Welcome to Soulfish! History
Soulfish began in 2005 as a Rock & Blues band, originally called “The Regulars”, with founding members Peter Wade (drums / vocals), John McLellan (lead guitar / vocals) and Matt Kendall (bass / vocals). The trio quickly doubled in size, adding Chris Aleshin to take lead vocals, Elias Deleault to play bass (with Matt switching to rhythm guitar) and Moses Edralin joining to play keyboards and percussion. The band changed its name from The Regulars to "Soulfish" in late 2006. In 2007, the band saw the amicable departure of Chris Aleshin and Elias Deleault, both interested in other pursuits. The band added sensational bassist, Malcolm Turner and a high-powered female vocalist, Karrie Benoit. With these additions, Soulfish (2.0) evolved more toward Rock-R&B-Soul-Funk genres. Soulfish (2.0) enjoyed a memorable 2 years performing for multiple venues in the Southern California area, receiving warm receptions at each show. A live recording from May-2008 in El Segundo, CA captures the band’s high-energy sound (listen here). Soulfish unfortunately disbanded in 2009 due to scheduling, geography and life demands for each band member. Everyone remains good friends to this day and each person is still musically active, so the hope will be for a Soulfish reunion of sorts in the near future! |
